First off lets answer the question what is a Poser and a fake. A poser is someone who attempts to act a certain way or like someone to try to impress them. An example is if someone wants to be friends with someone who is lets goth/emo, they may change their style to wear all dark colour and change their personality and might listen to the same music as them. And a fake is pretty much the same thing but they way the act is just not that person. Why are Posers and fakes bad? Easy it's not them!! If you want to impress someone don't change who you are, the person who you are trying to impress will know what your doing and probably not like you because of that. And this is from personal experience (But I'd rather not tell the story, its too long). How can you tell if someone is a poser?
Look for constant change. If this person that is thought to be a poser constantly changes their interests and style (phases) then your belief that they are a poser is probably valid
Search for poser phrases. Examples of phrases commonly heard by posers include "I'm not really sure if I like this band" and "I don't know, I'm not sure if I like it, what do you think?". Really any indecisive sentence that asks for your opinion and later agrees with it.
Observe whether the person liked things before they met certain people. A poser will often copy his or her friends whether it is style, music, hobbies and so on. It is evident someone is a poser when they start to "love" new things they didn't care for before as soon as they meet new people
you could also ask the reasoning behind there change of style. But if you do call what you think is poser out, make sure your pretty certain he/she is one cause you could end up looking like dumb ***.
